If you live in the Hunters Ridge Area, Springhurst Area or Hilltop Area on the streets and address ranges shown in the tables, your household is included in a recommendation to be rezoned from DCMS to College View Middle School. 

Grandfathering Policy (4/5 – 7/8)   

These procedures apply only to those students for whom redistricting requires a change of schools and will be in place at the beginning of the 2015-16 year.  All students are encouraged to attend the school in their attendance area, even if eligible for exemption. 

Students receiving exemption from attendance zone changes must provide their own transportation to and from school.  No district transportation will be provided.

Elementary  

1.      Elementary students entering the 4th/5th grade in the same year that attendance zone changes take effect will be eligible for exemption and may remain in the school where they attended the 3/4th grade.  In addition, parents of 4th/5th graders qualifying for exemption may elect to keep siblings together at the same school. 

2.      Parents must submit a “Grandfathering” application to the requested school no later than May 1st prior to the beginning of the school year in which attendance zone amendments are in effect.   

3.      In the 2016-17 school year, students qualifying for exemption as 4th graders and their siblings may remain in the school for their 5th grade year.  No other exemptions will be approved.   

4.      Starting with the 2017-18 school, all children must attend the school in their assigned attendance zone.           

Middle School  

1.      Students entering the 7th/8th grade at the start of the 2015-16 school year at a Middle School attendance zone changes take effect will be eligible for exemption and may remain in the school where they attended the 6th/7th grade.  In addition, parents of 7th/8th graders qualifying for exemption may elect to keep rising 6th grade siblings together at the same school.  

2.      Upon exit to Middle School, all rising 6th grade students who are not siblings of 7th/8th grade students requesting exemption must enroll in the middle school assigned to their address. 

3.      Parents must submit a “Grandfathering” application to the requested school no later than May 1st prior to the beginning of the school year in which attendance zone amendments are in effect.   

4.      In the 2016-17 school year, students qualifying for exemption as 7th graders and their siblings may remain in the school for their 8th grade year.  No other exemptions will be approved.

5.      Starting with the 2017-18 school year, exemptions for students enrolled at the Middle School since their 6th grade year will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
